Are you looking to hold a wedding or private event in Schenley Park or Frick Park? The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy can provide rental space at the Schenley Park Visitor Center, the Frick Environmental Center, or Schenley Plaza.

Schenley Park Visitor Center
The Schenley Park Visitor Center is one of the most captivating spaces found in the Pittsburgh area. With sweeping views of the park and plenty of natural light, it’s the perfect location for intimate celebrations. The Visitor Center is ideal for up to 50 seated guests and approximately 70 standing. From April through October, guests can enjoy a tented patio area that can accommodate up to 120 seated guests, a unique blend of indoor comforts and outdoor atmosphere.
Frick Environmental Center
The Frick Environmental Center provides a contemporary venue with distinctive architectural design. Spaces include a reception area with balcony overlooking the wooded park, a gallery hallway with glass frontage, a covered outdoor patio, and an intimate outdoor amphitheater nestled into a grassy hillside.
This eco-friendly, Living Building Challenge certified facility can accommodate up to 100 seated guests. The main reception room may be divided into two smaller spaces each accommodating up to 32 seated guests.
Schenley Plaza
The four-acre Schenley Plaza, located in the thriving heart of Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood, is the gateway to Schenley Park. It is the perfect venue for events both large and small.
The Plaza features a vaulted, open-concept design tent, that can accommodate up to 250 seated guests. Additional spaces include the Garden Forecourt, the Mary Schenley Fountain, a treelined green space known as “the Bosque,” and a sprawling 1-acre lawn, the centerpiece of the Plaza.
The PNC Carousel also makes a wonderful add-on to your event and may be included for an additional fee.
General Rules
When renting with the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, you and your guests agree to follow all applicable rules, regulations, and ordinances set forth by the City of Pittsburgh for the use of City Park spaces. A Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy (PPC) staff member must be present throughout your event. PPC will provide access to the space and assistance with the venue's equipment as needed.
PPC is not responsible for managing or executing event set up, timeline, or clean up. If you are planning a wedding or other large-scale event, it is highly recommended that you hire a wedding or event planner to oversee timeline or execution.
Event Furniture or Equipment
All locations include limited amenities. Furniture, equipment, or additional items are not guaranteed as part of the rental.
It is recommended to rent necessary event furniture through All Occasions Party Rentals or Marbella Event Furniture and Decor.
Time Requirements
All set up of rental furniture, equipment, decorations, or additional items are required to take place during your rental period. Additional fees may apply for exceeding your rental period. No early deliveries or drop-offs are permitted.
All events are required to end by 10 PM to abide by the City's park hours (11 PM hard out). It is required to include time for set up and tear down as part of your rental period.
Parking
Renters are responsible for reserving parking spaces or a valet, if needed. If reserving parking spaces through the Pittsburgh Parking Authority, renters are required to hang and remove 'No Parking Signs' before and after event.
Accessible parking is available for all locations.
Capacity
There is a required maximum capacity of guests for each location. Events cannot exceed the guest limit. Capacity is determined by a number of factors to ensure events run smoothly. If you have any questions about capacity, please contact our Event Sales Manager for more information.
Schenley Park Visitor Center & Frick Environmental Center
The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy provides a list of preferred caterers and bartenders for all rental locations. All catering must be provided by a licensed catering company or restaurant for the Schenley Park Visitor Center and Frick Environmental Center.
If serving alcohol at your event, you are required to have a RAMP-certified professional on site at all times. The name of your RAMP-certified professional and certificate of insurance covering liquor liability must be provided to the Conservancy no less than 30 days prior to your event. Serving alcoholic beverages at your event without a RAMP-certified professional present will result in the immediate cancellation of your event and may result in additional fees and fines assessed by the Conservancy or the City of Pittsburgh. Schenley Plaza
The Porch is the required catering and bar service for all private rentals at Schenley Plaza, unless for dietary or religious restrictions.
Preferred Vendors
The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy (PPC) can provide a list of recommended vendors and rental companies to help curate your special event or wedding.
All vendors must be approved by PPC prior to your event date. Renter must provide PPC with vendor contact information and insurance, if required, prior to event date.
Rental Furniture
We recommend all rental furniture, including tents, tables, chairs, high-top tables, tabletop items (plates, cutlery, glassware), or additional rental equipment be rented from All Occasions Party Rentals or Marbella Event Furniture and Decor.
Wedding or Event Planners
It is strongly encouraged to hire a wedding planner to oversee execution of event timeline and details. The PPC does not provide staff to manage day-of tasks.
Special Event Insurance
Renter shall obtain Special Event Liability Insurance and provide PPC with evidence of such insurance no later than thirty (30) days prior to the Event. Renter agrees to name the “Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy” and the “City of Pittsburgh” as additional insureds and to provide PPC with proof of insurance with the minimum requirements outlined below:
- General Aggregate (other than Prod/Comp Ops Liability) $1,000,000
- Each Occurrence $1,000,000
