Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy staff and volunteers cannot help with transferring to or from the Trackchair. Please bring a companion/caregiver who can assist with the transfer.
We have a wooden, 30 by 8-inch transfer board with cut handles and an adjustable transfer belt available for use. You are welcome to bring additional transfer equipment.
Trackchairs are adaptable for right-hand, left-hand, or attendant control. Volunteers will provide operation instructions at check-in.
The Trackchairs include optional accessories to support freedom, mobility, and comfort:
- Four-point Harness
- Seat Belt Extender
- Oxygen Tank Holder
- Lateral Leg Supports
- Lateral Trunk Supports
- Adjustable Head Rest and Triangular Head Positioner
- Side Pocket Storage
- Wedge Pillows
- A companion/caregiver must be present with the Trackchair user throughout the entire length of the outing.
- A parent or legal guardian must be present with a Trackchair user under the age of 18.
- All Trackchair outings must be accompanied by a trained Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy volunteer to help ensure visitors have a safe and educational experience.
- It is unsafe for a Trackchair user to carry and/or hold the leash of a service animal or pet(s). Service animals and pets are welcome to join, but must be in the control of a companion/caregiver or other visitor.
- Unfortunately, Trackchairs cannot accommodate ventilators.
- Trackchairs cannot navigate slopes of 20-degrees or more.
All Trackchair users must review and sign a Trackchair waiver in order to participate in the program. If a caregiver/companion plans to use the attendant control feature, they must also review and sign. You can review, print, and sign the waiver before your reserved outing. Alternatively, a physical copy will be available to review and sign on the day of your outing.
