The Spring Hat Luncheon

Somebody up there likes Meg Cheever. The 11th annual Spring Hat Luncheon went off without a drop of the rain that had been predicted for days, dampening the spirits of the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy staff. Each year they create a festive environment in a different city park, helping to raise more than $40 million for the organization Mrs. Cheever founded in 1997.
What the conservancy has done with the money is visible in each of the five urban parks -- projects like the new Riverview Chapel Shelter, Schenley Plaza and the Highland Park Entry Garden. Through its efforts and partnerships with the city and county, the revitalized parks are a major reason Pittsburgh has earned its Most Livable City title. Read full article
