The Party: The sounds of the Rick Purcell Jazz ensemble filtered through 600 excited guests catching up under tents and comparing hats on the lawn near Highland Park’s fountain circle. It was the 20th annual PNC Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy Spring Hat Luncheon with new conservancy CEO Jayne Miller (with her wife Diana Sepac). Mimosas and sunny skies greeted guests in stylish chapeaus. WTAE-TV’s Sally Wiggin emceed the afternoon affair welcoming everyone. Ms. Miller introduced the vice chairs: Mary McKinney Flaherty, Emily Mack Jamison, Mollie Hanna Lang, Ramsey Lyons and Jimmi Sue Smith. She gifted them with Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy Hunter Wellington boots — just in case it rains next year. Founding event chair Ritchie Battle remembered her friend Nadine Bognar and thanked founding CEO Meg Cheever for two decades of leadership. “It’s been a wonderful collaboration and notice it was all women who started the Parks Conservancy,” said Ms. Battle. Dan Gilman, the mayor’s chief of staff, said he looks forward to working with Ms. Miller. The Duquesne Club served lunch and everyone left with a pink umbrella from the EQT Foundation...
