Reid Loughead
Reid grew up in the North Hills of Pittsburgh, where he discovered a deep love and appreciation of the natural world. After a brief detour for a bachelor’s degree in political science, he pursued a career in natural resource management that blossomed into a 10-year career as a forester in central Pennsylvania and in the Monongahela National Forest in West Virginia. So much time spent in our forests inspired Reid to focus his career on protecting these spaces for future generations of people, plants and animals. This led him back to Pittsburgh and a master’s degree in park and resource management at Slippery Rock University. Reid is excited to use his knowledge and experience in his work as a restoration gardener for the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy.
When not working the woods, you can still usually find Reid in them, either rock climbing with friends or simply exploring with his two jack Russell mixes, Millie and Luna.
