In 2008, Gavin traveled an hour south of his hometown of Mars, Pennsylvania to study at the University of Pittsburgh, graduating with degrees in History and Architecture, and has stayed ever since. As Community Projects Manager, Gavin combines his on-the-ground building experience with his passion for public engagement to ensure resident-driven park plans become built community projects. Prior to this role, Gavin split his time between the Parks Conservancy and Grounded Strategies, working with neighborhoods and municipalities across the county to build play places for people young and old. He’s also designed and created spaces for film, installations, performances, and other events with many artists. Gavin is generally interested in spaces and places: How do they define us? How do we best shape them? What does it take to make and maintain them?
