At the Parks Conservancy, Arlene is inspired by people working to make the city and the lives of the people who live here better. That can mean many things, but here, the approach is simple. Get outside, visit a park, connect with nature, build a community. The benefits are real and accessible to all. Sometimes Parks Conservancy meetings are held in parks, while walking trails, or in neighborhoods she’s never visited. Arlene feels that how you become deeply familiar with the city. Park development is a lengthy process that brings together planners, architects, engineers, historians, ecologists, educators, city officials, funders, and park users. Arlene believes their energy, diverse perspectives, and commitment open her mind to new ways of thinking about how all of us can enjoy better, healthier, and happier lives.
