April is a Southern transplant having been born and raised in the great state of Texas. Despite moving to Pennsylvania in 2009 and Pittsburgh proper in 2012, she refuses to say “yinz” and happily refers to groups of people as “y’all” and “all y’all”. April received her bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Dallas, and then two master’s degrees in Geosciences and Astrobiology from Pennsylvania State University and Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo, respectively. So, I guess you can say that April is a bit of a nerd. A fact which she warmly embraces in both her professional and personal life (she did have two cats named Schrödinger and Pythagoras, after all!). When she’s not at work and not threatening to adopt the entirety of the animal shelter, April can be found exploring the world with her husband (and best friend of the last 18 years), Kenny.
