Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy Debuts Revamped Community Campfire Event
Experience the magic of autumn at Frick Park with a fresh take on seasonal festivities, featuring live music, marshmallow roasting, and activities for all ages on October 19.
PITTSBURGH – OCTOBER 3, 2024 – The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy is thrilled to introduce a reimagined fall tradition at the Frick Environmental Center: Community Campfire—a celebration that captures the seasonal magic of Frick Park and builds on the legacy of an event first launched in 2016. This family-friendly gathering will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.
This year, the Community Campfire, presented by S&B USA, will replace the beloved Bump in the Night event, which has been paused due to ongoing construction of the Outdoor Discovery Space and Sensory Nature Trail. In its place, the Community Campfire brings a fresh twist to autumn festivities while keeping the cherished spirit of fall alive in Frick Park.
Attendees can enjoy live music from local band, The Stone Throwers, as they gather around the campfire. The event will also feature marshmallow roasting, pumpkin painting, and a variety of lawn games and fall-themed entertainment for all ages. Guests are encouraged to bring their own treats to roast over the fire.
"While we'll miss hosting Bump in the Night this year, we're thrilled to reintroduce the Community Campfire as a new tradition," said James Brown, Director of Education and the Frick Environmental Center. "This event celebrates the best parts of a fall evening—warm fires, music, and time spent with family and friends. We look forward to welcoming the community and allowing them to enjoy a memorable night in the park."
Tickets are $5 for adults and children aged four and older, with proceeds benefiting the education programs at the Frick Environmental Center.
"The Community Campfire at Frick Park is a great opportunity spend time in Pittsburgh's terrific park system and celebrate nature with friends and family. We're proud of sponsoring and supporting the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy who makes these wonderful events possible," explained Grant Ervin, Vice President of External Affairs and Sustainability, S&B USA.
