PITTSBURGH PARKS CONSERVANCY & 11TH HOUR BREWING TEAM UP TO CRAFT CUSTOM BEER TO BENEFIT PARKS
PITTSBURGH – JULY 31, 2023 – The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy and 11th Hour Brewing today announced the launch of the limited edition "Schenley Park Brew," a new craft beer collaboration developed to honor and benefit green spaces across Pittsburgh's more than 170 parks.
Beginning with the Schenley Park Brew, this unique partnership and initial creation place the spirit of Pittsburgh's parks at the forefront. The flavorful brew is a humble cream ale with its origins in the 19th century (much like Schenley Park) and was crafted in a way that could be effortlessly consumed.
According to Justin Strzelczyk, growth and brand strategy lead for 11th Hour Brewing, the Schenley Park Brew was created with one goal: to highlight the city's spaces that both organizations love so much – Pittsburgh Parks.
"We often take the parks' roles in our everyday lives for granted. Serving multiple roles as both a focal point for our biggest life moments when we need them and a relaxing backdrop to escape from a bustling city, Pittsburgh's parks operate every day of the year for the betterment of our community," Stzelczyk explained. "Having founded 11th Hour on the principle of bettering one's community, the parks are something we hold dearly."
To commence the newest Pittsburgh-based partnership, the Parks Conservancy and 11th Hour Brewing will host four pop-up beer gardens titled ‘Beer at the Bosque,’ which plays upon the event's location at the Schenley Plaza Bosque in the heart of Oakland.
"The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy is elated to announce this exciting endeavor with 11th Hour Brewing," said Hersh Merenstein, senior manager of institutional giving at the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy. " Sharing our commitment to healthier and more accessible parks for all, 11th Hour Brewing is the ideal partner. We can’t wait to celebrate the launch of the Schenley Park Brew as part of our upcoming beer garden series. We encourage people from across the region to join us, taste this incredible new beer, and enjoy all that Schenley Park has to offer while giving back to your parks.”
The Beer at the Bosque series kicks off on Friday, August 4, at 3:00 p.m. Subsequent events will follow on Saturday, August 5, from 12:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 15, from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, September 16 from 12:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Registration is free; attendees can purchase craft beers, including the Schenley Park Brew while enjoying larger-than-life lawn games and music. Guests can buy food from nearby kiosks and The Porch at Schenley and are always welcome to bring their own picnic.
