Parks Conservancy Lands $1 Million Grant For Allegheny Commons Fountain

The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy this week earned a $1 million state grant to help defray construction costs at Allegheny Commons Park , the oldest park in the city.

Specifically, money from the state Department of Community and Economic Development will be used for the Northeast Fountain and Promenade project which is expected to recreate the historic centerpiece that sits on 1,000 feet of public green space at the park in the city’s Northside.

The new fountain, at the corner of Cedar and North avenues, will mirror its original 19th century design and will include a 50-foot circular basin, a large Grecian urn and a tall jet surrounded by smaller sprays.
