Additional Info

What to Expect on the Trail

The Outdoor Discover Space and Sensory Nature Trail is approximately 1/3 of a mile in length and designed to meet ADA-guidelines for trails.   The trail traverses moderately sloping terrain, with pathway slopes varying from almost flat to an 8% grade, approximately 30 feet of elevation change from the starting point at the fountain to the observation deck.  There are flatter areas and benches for resting and seating located along the trail.  The trail is paved in asphalt and concrete paving marks the presence of trail entrances and sensory features. There are gravel or mulch trails that connect to the Sensory Trail which you are welcome to explore, however, these are not accessible and are not considered part of the sensory experience.

Along the trail, you'll find various QR codes on wayfinding signage and location markers at each sensory experience. These QR codes are intended to provide additional information or recommendations for our to interact with the sensory features. We recommend scanning the main QR code before your visit, as WiFi in the woods can be spotty. Preloading the webpage in advance will ensure a smoother experience. The main QR code is also available at the Welcome Desk inside the Frick Environmental Center
