ABOUT THE PROJECT
In 2024, the Parks Conservancy, in partnership with the City of Pittsburgh, enhanced Mellon Park’s entrances and signage to create a more cohesive and accessible experience: a key initiative and the first project to come out of the Mellon Park Action Plan. Mellon Park’s two sides have distinct characteristics, leading many visitors to perceive them as separate spaces. To improve connectivity, the project established a unified design and materials palette that respects the park’s history and contemporary uses, upgraded existing entrances for consistency and accessibility, and installed comprehensive signage to improve wayfinding, identify amenities, and communicate park rules.
