Media Advisory: Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy Receives $10,000 Grant from Penguins Foundation for August Wilson Park

The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation donated $10,000 to The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy to help with ongoing improvements at August Wilson Park located in the Hill District. The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy’s Board Chairman Daniel Booker accepted the donation Tuesday, June 5th.

Formerly known as Cliffside Park, August Wilson Park opened to the public in August 2016. The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy and the City of Pittsburgh have worked to bring new life to the park and make it a safer, more welcoming space for all. The park has become a hub for environmental education and stewardship for the Hill District.

The grant will be used to increase the number of youth-based organizations and students that participate in educational programming at the park. The environmental education classes, events and stewardship activities offered at the park are geared to help students understand more about the natural world and help them make their community a better place.

August Wilson Park is located in the heart of the Hill District and features an expanded view of the rivers, public art, a jungle gym, a basketball court and more.
