Horticulture and Forestry

Caring for the places you love Horticulture and Forestry Team

The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy's Horticulture and Forestry Team works to nurture and protect the green spaces we love.

Whether planting new trees, shrubs, and flowers or investigating new destructive insects and diseases, our gardens and parks require year-round maintenance and the utmost care. Learn more about the history and plant life of our gardens, the daily operations of Horticulture staff and opportunities to volunteer below!

One of the easiest ways to get involved is with our Stewardship Days! These monthly events allow individuals or groups to contribute to ecological restoration through activities such as gardening, invasive species clearing, and park cleanup. Sign up on our calendar.

Questions or Concerns Regarding a park?

Did you spot a tree down in a park? Does playground equipment need repaired? Visit the city of Pittsburgh's 311 response page! Requests can be sent anonymously if you do not require a response. Please keep in mind that the more detailed information you can provide, the better the city of Pittsburgh will be able to assist.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE

YOUR PARKS MATTER

Parks thrive when they have sun, soil, rain…and you. You ensure programs are offered, trees are planted, capital projects are funded, flowers are tended to, research is pursued. There is nothing the parks can’t do with you behind them.
