Highland Park Improvement Projects

For more than 20 years, the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy has worked alongside the community and the City of Pittsburgh to enhance the beauty and sustainability of Highland Park. From past restorations to the continued care of the bountiful flower beds, discover how we’re bringing new life to this cherished green space.

Seasonal Pools

In 2006, the Parks Conservancy and the City created the Highland Park Seasonal Pools to capture stormwater, improve drainage, and establish a rare wetland habitat that supports nature and park sustainability.

Entry Garden

Led by the Parks Conservancy, the Highland Park Entry Garden was restored by 2005 and enhanced in 2017, reviving its historic fountain, seasonal plantings, and welcoming gathering spaces at the park’s entrance.

Babbling Brook

Completed in 2003, this innovative water feature naturally cleans and aerates treated water from the nearby plant while providing a safe, scenic walkway.

About the Garden

The garden features a vibrant mix of spring bulbs, flowering perennials, and pollinator plants that provide color and wildlife interest from early spring through fall.

Pittsburgh’s Parks: For Everyone, Forever

Parks bring us together. They are where families make memories, neighbors connect, and people of all backgrounds and abilities can find joy in nature. No matter who you are, parks are for you. And in return, they give us so much—fresh air to breathe, green spaces to explore, and a sense of home in the heart of our city.

At the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, we believe parks are essential. We’re committed to caring for them today and for generations to come.

Join us in keeping Pittsburgh’s parks thriving.
