This is the first of our Sustainability + Building Tour series with the aim of sharing ideas and creating community around sustainability issues. The Frick Environmental Center is one of the greenest buildings in the world, boasting LEED Platinum and Living Building Certification. The philosophy of the Living Building Challenge imagines buildings that improve—rather than degrade– the environment around them. For this tour, we’ll be spending more time in the native plant and pollinator garden on the building’s campus, learning various species of plants that improve the Frick Environmental Center’s campus for other creatures beyond humans.
