At 644 acres, Frick Park is the largest historical regional park in Pittsburgh. Our dedicated team works hard to keep the landscape of the park beautiful. From migrating birds to native wildflowers, Clayton Hill is bursting with life. The deer exclosures on Clayton Hill are part of our restoration efforts to help native plant life thrive in the park. Frick stewardship days are dedicated to the restoration of Clayton Hill. With your help, we can remove invasive plants that threaten the natural native beauty of this historic park.
This event will be led by Rachel Hoag, Ecological Restoration Coordinator for the PPC. She will determine the scope of work for the day based on park needs. Her email is rhoag@pittsburghparks.org.
• Meeting Location: 2005 Beechwood Boulevard, Pittsburgh PA 15217 in front of the Barn
• Free Parking: Frick Environmental Center parking lot. If the lot is full, street parking is available
• Bathrooms: Located in Environmental Center and outside the Barn.
• Equipment: Orange vests, gloves and tools will be provided by the PPC, as well as bug spray, Tecnu, and a first aid kit when necessary.
• Attire: If heat exposure is likely, please wear appropriate protective layers and sunscreen. When it is cold, dress appropriately. Sturdy, close-toed shoes (especially with ankle support) allow for safe maneuvering on challenging terrain. Long pants and long sleeves offer a good first layer of protection for poison ivy and thorny shrubbery, as well as for ticks (light colors recommended) and other biting insects.
• Water: Please bring a water bottle to stay hydrated. A drinking fountain is accessible in the Environmental Center and the Barn.
• Safety: Work will occur in the Clayton Hill deer exclosures, where vegetation can be very dense and ticks may be present. The hike to the site is .25 miles. If needed, volunteers can walk back to the front of the park to use the facilities.

Please note that a photographer may be on-site to capture photos and video from the program. The photos/video captured may be used to help the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy further promote its mission. Please advise the photographer on-site if you DO NOT want your photo/video taken.
