Join Certified Nature and Forest Therapy Guide with ANFT, Sandi Miller for a forest bathing (Shinrin-yoku) session. Shinrin-yoku, an immersive sensory experience, is the practice of spending time outdoors in a natural area and being in the moment to enhance health and wellness. It combines concepts of meditation and mindfulness through a series of guided invitations to allow you to relax and enjoy the present moment.
During a Forest Bathing experience, healing activities are incorporated to make room for listening, stillness, reflection, and heightened sensory awareness. A growing body of research demonstrates the physical and mental health benefits of walking in nature coupled with mindfulness.
We will be covering less than a mile of distance and we will mostly be in silence. There will be brief periods of sharing and a tea ceremony towards the end with time for reflection and discussion.
This program is best for adults only (ages 14+) and meets at the fountain at the Frick Environmental Center.
