Come see why a 1,300 year-old game from India has long won the devotion of competitors around the world.  School-aged chess-players learn critical thinking and problem-solving skills, seniors exercise their minds in ways shown to stave off dementia and Alzheimer’s, and all players have fun.  At the chessboard, a player’s age, size, gender, and racial and ethnic background are irrelevant:  Only raw skill figures in.   Come play – or learn to play, if you’re a newbie – three Fridays, June 2, 9 and 16 at the Schenley Plaza tent anytime between 3-5:30pm.  Sets will be provided, and all-level players are welcome.  Hosted in partnership with Pittsburgh Police Community Engagement Officer Dave Shifren.
