Join us for Befriending the Forest: The Birds and Plants of Hays Woods in Partnership with Bird Lab.
Come check out Pittsburgh’s newest official city park and join us for an exclusive hike with Bird Lab Avian Ecologist, Nick Liadis, and Jared Belsky, Ecological Restoration Coordinator, Hays Woods. Explore Hays Woods like never before, while learning about native plants and trees and how regional birds interact within this dense urban forest. This adventure will incorporate a mixture of species identification and birdwatching. Fall migration is the best time to catch sight and sound of the migrating birds overhead, so don’t miss your chance to see our avian friends before it’s too late!
As Hays Woods has only recently been designated a City of Pittsburgh park, nearly the entirety of it is a vast urban woodland, mostly undisturbed. At times, there are hunters in the park. For this event, we will provide orange safety vests for your comfort. If you have any concerns, please contact Jared Belsky, at jbelsky@pittsburghparks.org
Please note that a photographer may be on-site to capture photos and video from the program. The photos/video captured may be used to help the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy further promote its mission. Please advise the photographer on-site if you DO NOT want your photo/video taken.
