Cliffside Park To Be Renamed August Wilson Park

APRIL 22, 2016 BY: LAURYN STALTER

“Life’s got its own rhythm. It don’t always go along with your rhythm. It don’t always be what you think it’s gonna be.”
- Ruby, King Hedley II

The rhythym of one community park in the Hill District's definitely wasn't what those who worked to restore it thought it would be.

Perched on the edge of the Hill, Cliffside Park is closer to reopening than it ever has been. Through rests, changes in tempo, maybe even a little dissonance, its song and rhythym has carried on. And soon, we're so happy to announce it will jive with the community so much better with its new name: August Wilson Park

This week, the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy joined with neighborhood partners and representatives to announce the park's new name. We hope that you'll join us and your neighbors in the Hill District to celebrate the park's namesake at the August Wilson Block Party on April 30th. We'll be there giving free public tours of the August Wilson Park at noon, 1:00pm and 2:00pm.
