City, Parks Conservancy Hosting ‘Listening Tour’ In Neighborhoods
The City of Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy (www.pittsburghparks.org/listening-tour) will host a series of “listening” events in every Pittsburgh city neighborhood over the next four months, seeking input from residents on how to enhance the quality and vibrancy of their local parks.
Jayne Miller, president and chief executive officer of the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, said the goal of the listening tour is to solicit input from residents in individual neighborhoods on developing an equitable approach to investing in the city’s park system, which encompasses165 parks, parklets and open spaces covering almost 5,000 acres of land.
“Parks are integral to creating a high quality of life and the Conservancy is committed, along with the City of Pittsburgh, to making ours the very best in country,” she said. “Of course, it will take time and money to do that, but we really can’t begin the task until we know what is most important to those who live in our city and what everyone wants in their parks.”
